Beartooths 2024 (2)

In the morning, we headed up higher.

We put on our helmets for the steep talus.

This is the South side of the saddle between Iceberg Peak and Mount Wilse.

Top of the saddle, looking West toward Iceberg Peak.

A hundred years ago, this entire view would have been filled with Grasshopper Glacier.

A long shot down the West Rosebud valley. Mount Hague on the left, Mount Wood in the center, and Granite Peak at the right in the distance.

We climbed almost to the top of Mount Wilse in order to find a way down. This is the remnant of Hidden Glacier on the North side of Mount Wlise.

Allison with Mount Wilse behind.

Looking down at Grasshopper Lake before we started our descent.

Lots of loose talus. It was a challenging descent

Grasshopper Lake. More on the lost glacier on the next page.

We hiked over the saddle between Iceberg Peak and Sawtooth Mountain.

And set up camp above the Goose Lakes.
