On day five, we descended Speculator Creek.
We had to bushwhack a couple of miles to get back to the Speculator Creek Trail. But the trail was not where the map or the GPS said it was. We spent a lot of time sidehilling, in deadfall, and in talus, before we found it further down the valley.
Harold did not like the bushwhacking and is here hoping for a quick trail discovery.
We were happy to eventually find the trail.
It was a long day getting down the main Boulder River Road. We road hiked about a mile to get to the bottom of the Placer Basin trail and set up camp.
