Dawn light on Mystic Equinox Tower.
We packed up and headed up the slopes.
Looking across the West Rosebud valley to Froze To Death plateau and Granite Peak.
Granite Peak with the snowbridge clearly visible.
Our climb started on grassy slopes.
Which became talus as we got higher.
The lower lake below Mount Wood was a beautiful green.
The upper lake below Mount Wood was flanked by a snowfield.
Looking South back down the valley with Mystic Equinox Tower.
From here on we were scrambling all the way to the summit.
Wood Lake, Lake Wilderness, and the Woodbine valley.
Getting close the top.
On the West summit of Mount Wood
We had hoped to glissade the Wood glacier, but after checking it out, we decided it was too icy to be safe. That was a bit of a bummer, because it meant we had hauled full packs to the top for no reason. We decided to head South and exit via the West Rosebud.
Looking North with the Fishtail Plateau to the right.
The West Fishtail lakes.
We headed back down toward the lakes SE of Mount Wood.
We found a passable camp site, but were buffeted by the wind all night.
