In the morning, I continued down the valley, solving the labyrinth of talus
Eventually, some green spots began to appear. Here the North branch of Granite Creek appears from beneath the rock.
Leading to a big meadow and trees.
The creek tumbled down.
Into Echo Lake.
Below Echo Lake there was a use trail that joined up with the East Rosebud Trail. (For more on the East Rosebud Trail, check out my 2006 Trip Report.) I hiked past Lake At Falls.
Rainbow Lake.
Rimrock Lake.
And the cascades in the canyon.
I hiked down past Elk Lake and to the trailhead. Another great trip in the Beartooth.
