Beartooths 2018 (2)

Morning light by the lake.

Climbing above the lake, heading toward the main West Fishtail Creek drainage.

Plenty of talus.

Looking back at the beautiful Lake.

And the Cirque.

While trying to find a good route through the talus, I came across this pyramidal rock.

I crested the ridge and could see the meadows that I was aiming for. Unfortunately, I screwed up my navigation from here, got too far to the right, and cliffed out.

Oops! This cliff stopped me and I spent a good hour or two backtracking.

Once I got to the bottom, there was plenty of blowdown and dense forest to contend with.

But I eventually got through it to the lovely meadows.

Mt Wood in the distance.

The hiking was still difficult in places, and the weather started to get showery, so I set up camp and managed to get in the tent before the rain really hit..
